Do rabbits eat onions?

I've got 4 rows of onions in, and I can't help but think they're being eaten. The leaves are quite thick, but they look like they've been "chopped" - like you'd expect from a strimmer.

Am I going to have to fence them in too!?

Don't know whether they eat them but if you put the bunny in a casserole, they certainly taste nice with onions!

Have big rabbit problem here but they haven't touched my onions, in fact they run along between the onion drills to dig out my spuds !!!!!
I think your culprit could be of the feathered variety - most probably the wood pigeon.

Our resident rabbit has had a nibble at the onions I've planted in the garden but left the potatoes alone. The couple she has nibbles look just as you describe. Chopped off just above the ground as though a strimmer has been over them. And then she hops on to something, doesn't even eat the bit she has bitten off I'd agree with Alice they will eat pretty much anything.

It just occurred to me....

The only ones getting to eat anything from my plot are the wildlife! Slugs eating my potatoes, rabbits eating my peas and pidgeons or rabbits eating my onions!

When do I get to eat anything!?!

According to my companion planting book ( carrot loves tomatoes ), rabbit don't like onions. But if they did eat your onions that makes it different story...sorry about that ! just to be sure that your onion safe, give them some protections .

Rabbits don't eat onions here: they don't get the chance as slugs do it first:-(.
Another crop I've had to give up on (potatoes and slugs are another)

I don't know about onions but they ate the leaves on my leeks last winter, must have been desperate.
