I do not bother overwintering cayennes, as they grow perfectly well if sown end Feb, beg March.

    I only keep the habaneros.

Although if I had the room, then I would also keep the cayennes. As I really do feel bad when I throw the plants out.

Well they aren't hurting anything sitting on the kitchen windowsill, so I may as well have a bash at overwintering them. Next question then, how much of the plant do you trim down?

Now that's the scary part I trim mine until I've more or less got a stick left.

Flip side -- I only prune bits of the plant that are dead or diseased.

I am going to do this. I only have a couple suitable for overwintering but worth a shot. Was a bit underwhelmed with my chilli crop this year.

Gonna try a Prairie Fire and hopefully a Firecracker and anything else in the GH that looks up for a challenge!
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Why not save the seeds and sow them whenever you start off new chillies - I find they grow well and are used to the place - they're local lads!

Having said that, I always try to overwinter a few though I haven't yet succeeded (my daughter has done it for the past three years and has chillies through to Spring).

I cut my plants to around 1/3 of their size.

However, this year my plants were massive.

so I now have several pruned back plants in the house, that are around 18 inches tall with a 12 inch spread!
