as far as I know, for indoor types (e.g. Telegraph), remove all male flowers from ordinary varieties – fertilized fruit is bitter.

For outdoor types (e.g. Marketmore), Fertilization is essential. NEVER remove the male flowers. (so says D.G.Hessayon which is my bible).

You can get all-female hybrids which you don't need to worry about - you might have one of these?

If your cukes are F1 all female plants, which are most commonly indoor grown cukes, then you do not need to worry. Let us know what variety you are growing and we can assist you further.

            I don't think these are all-female.

Have you planted them out yet? I planted out 4 last week and lost one in the really hot weather, but the other 3 are doing fine.

            Here are a few tips:
            - Put outside when 8” high.
            - Pinch out the growing tip when the plants have developed 6 or 7 leaves. Side shoots will then develop.
            - Any shoots not bearing flowers should be pinched out at the 7th leaf
            - Once the fruits have started to swell, feed with liquid tomato fertilizer.

Leave Marketmore alone Mich. They don't need any of the flowers removing.
