I am going to be cutting down my autumn raspberries and was wondering if I can compost them or am I risking unwanted secondary plants?

As an addenidum, adenidum, ad...oh as an add on, I planted 4 autumn canes about 3 weeks ago and they are sprouting new shoots! should I rub these off before the frost gets them and maybe damages the plant?photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html

They will root if they aren't dead though, so leave them on the path for a week or so before they go (chopped) on the heap. Me, I tend to cut them down in late Feb (they protect the soil somewhat if they're left up all winter), chop them into 3" lengths and leave the bits on the ground as a mulchAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
