I don't think you could persuade a carrot top to flower - it uses up all the root in producing the energy to set seeds.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Well! Thanks all for your replies I hadn't received any notifications that anybody has replied - stupid phone! I'm having a problem with the phone grapevine app though. It just goes to a black screen constantly which is weird. I have to go on the home computer to see any posts. Thanks, I'm going to leave a few in a space for a couple of years to see what happens. And now I know how to grow carrot seeds
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

If you leave the carrots in the ground until after the plants have flowered, the roots will be woody and unpleasant to eat. You can either have carrots to eat or seeds to plant, but not both from the same plant unfortunately.
