My compost bin is full of worms is that a good sign.

When the times to plant spuds will they do harm

Why not cut out the middle man and eat the worms instead of the spuds? Earth worms are an indication that you compost is healthy and they will go on to make it even better. If I get a lot of worms I save some back to put in the new compost.

Earth worms ... If I get a lot of worms I save some back to put in the new compost.

Earth worms don't eat compost though: they live in the soil, processing fallen leaves etc.

Compost worms are different beasties, aka red/tiger/brandling/fishing bait

So what are they eating and why do they multiply? They must be processing the compost which after all is leaves of one kind or another. I am told that earth worms pull your compost down into the soil, if they are not eating it why do they bother? Such mysteries.
