Will...how damp does the soil need to be???...'Marsh ' rings alarm bells!

Having said that- with extra watering I can grow celeriac which is a marsh plant!

Problem here is that Marsh Samphire naturally grows in SALT marshes & should be submerged twice a day with a saline solution to simulate tidal wash

...love that!...hmmmm...makes you realise that there is so much more out there than the 'humble' tomato or brassica!!

These things are so ridiculously expensive in the top of the range shops!!

I'm the opposite to you Potty (in lots of ways )
If you try something new, when it fails, you have a ready excuse .........First time, I've tried these etc etc.
When you've been trying to grow bladdy carrots for years and always fail, there's no excuse except incompetence.

I have a continual problem with mildew in my garden, every year it completely wipes out my peas and courgettes (although I still get a few before they succumb). So this year no cougettes but i will try a resistant variety of peas, its their last chance. Same with potatoes, I am forced to go for blight resistant varieties.

billHH,try one of the semi-leafless pea varieties bud,less leaf means better airflow & hence reduces the risk of mildew

I'm hoping to have a go at Agretti (a bit like Samphire), Gigantes beans, French Tarragon, saffron and maybe even peanuts :-)

Well it's eight months later and I grew the agretti ...

1. The seedlings, a week or two old:
