Trying my luck this year with chillies, but after reading the different posts, it seems I'm starting on the wrong foot :'(
I didn't soak the seeds beforehand and placed them directly on the windowsill in glass jars filled with potting compost and sealed with lids. No heat - North west facing wall. It's been a week only so far.
I didn't soak my seeds, just popped them in compost in one of those window sill propagators, put in airing cupboard till they germinated.don't know how they'll do, once I put them in the warmth, they appeared within a few days.
Ha omg my little girl just come down with a tray of chillies I had sown and forgot about the compost is very very dry and I'd forgot about them as there in my bedroom window as I've been sleeping down stairs (easier with my op and cast) and there ok they need a good water, pricking out and repotting but here they are!!
Note: I must not have touched these in about a month how there alive I will never know!!
I read somewhere that, in a chillis natural environment they can regularly go without water for extended periods of time, so they can take a bit of abuse.
Started on the 2nd January getting a bit big, praying for warmer weather so they can go outside. I took advice from here and stopped them at about 8 inches and they are side shooting nicely. First attempt so all will probably fall in a heap yet !
