Have I missed the boat for onions this year?

    They may not need feeding but that depends onhow much feed is already in the ground. How well did you prepare the ground they are planted in? If it was me, I would wait until spring is well and truly here before giving them anything extra as otherwise, they may well develop soft growth which can be destroyed by frost.

      I certainly hope it's not too late I've just bought 300 sets for £5 from B&M Spring planted onion sets should be fine, not sure about the garlic, I always overwinter mine, because then there is some green on the plot, no other reason

        Thanks for this. I've managed not to sow any of the seeds yet (not sure how that happened) but I'm going to remedy that very soon, in a spirit of nothing ventured...
        Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?
