      That's his allotment??? I thought it was his back garden and that's why it's so smart and tidy! It certainly makes my back garden look scruffy.

          • Just in time - June photos

            The cabbages has come up and the leeks are in


            The next cabbages are in ( interspersed with some lettuce)


            Sweetcorn and butternut squash is planted


            And the asparagus is finished for the season

                  First lot of peas have been replaced by a late variety (Geisha).

                  The grow light garden has done its job for now, so here are some July pics from slightly different angles:
                  Veggie cage containing carrots, red cabbage and calabrese


                  Tomatoes, apples and white currants invading the flower garden

                  Some of last year's plants looking distinctly tired now, but still producing tomatoes!

                        • Bed 1 sprouts then black and dwarf kale


                          Bed 2 broad beans at the back with telephone and purple podded peas under netting


                          Bed 3 parsnips, beetroot, chard and a pot of leeks waiting to go in the ground


                          Bed 4 scarlet emperor and Serbian beans. Sharing a bed with rhubarb, blackberry and a couple of toms.
