Haha Im all for experimenting with how early I can plant seeds but not even I'm that hopeful!

Golly I've just sown (around 2 weeks ago) some red (F1 Kamal) and brown (Ailsa Craig) onions! Planted onions sets and garlic last year.

To all sowing tomatos, are they for an outside or inside crop? I don't have a greenhouse or anything like one so will be looking at planting outside and just wondering when I start them off.

If you don't have a GH or Heated Propagator, I would start them off indoors around March,to be planted out after your last frost.

I grew "Outdoor Girl" last year with good results, plus they are a bush variety so no need to remove armpits.

Just sown 2 Shirley seeds (see this thread http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ml#post1202442) - these are for indoor plants. I will be sowing the outdoor varieties such as Sungold any time after mid March depending on the weather.

I was trying to hold off...i'm almost certain we'll still see a proper winter..but the seed packets got the better of me!

Chilli - Magnum - Habanero - only 4 seeds though!
Leek - Bluegreen autumn - just a pinch...
Leek - De Carenton -(lidl) just a pinch as well..

I'm not going for it just yet! lol

As an experiment, I'm gonna try a cocktail cordon so today I sowed 5 cells containing 1 seed of the following variety Tomatoes - Essex Wonder, Yellow Stuffer & Black Icicle. The theory is that all 3 main stems will intertwine around the same support giving me 3 varieties from one pot..............That's the theory anyway, bring on the practical..........

Multi-Sowed a 15 module tray of ailsa Craig onions. Will keep 5 per module and plant them out in clumps. No sets this year, eek, feels like risky business. Will sow a second tray when these are up.

You can split onions from cells easily and spec 3 to 4 inches apart which I've found is better than bunches. The bunches work great for spring onions though

Should be fine as long as your soil isn't heavy and waterlogged.

Today I sowed:

Cabbage (Sutton's Golden Acre - Primo (II))
Antirrhinum
Penstemon
Verbascum

in my sunniest window.
