  • Anyone have an opinion on wilko £1 beans and peas they any good or do I spend a couple more quid on kings or other name brand ?

          • Over the last couple of days I've sown spring onions, spinach, carrots, parsley, lettuce, nasturtiums and PSB, mainly for salads at this stage.

            • I love my tomatoes!!
              I grew to many different varieties last year!!
              Probably will grow to many this year, but I think I've reduced the amount!!!
              Anyways this is what I sowed last night.....lots from the 2013 Seed Circle

              New Varieties for me
              Mortgage Lifter
              Dancing with Smurfs
              Amish Paste
              Amish Mayberry
              Hahms Gelbe Topftomate
              J Hawkins
              Goldkrone
              Orange Banana (Russian Origin)
              Otto's Papa
              Peacevine
              Roughwood Golden Plum
              Kibits Ukraine
              Italian Gold
              Black Icicle
              Blonde Boar
              Black & Brown Boar
              Outdoor Girl
              Roma

              Usual Suspects
              San Marzano
              Rio Grande
              Super Marmande
              Gardeners Delight
              Black Cherry
              Scotland Yellow
              Black krim
              Shirley

              I shall grow around 1-2 plants of the new varieties. San Marzano will grow 10-15 plants as these are my favourite plum varieties, I make lots of passata with it. Still lots of plants!!! lol

                    All I've done so far is start preparing the polytunnel beds with well rotted manure and sowed the seeds. I will also be preparing some outdoor beds soon.

                    • Todays sowings are :-bell peppers, long pointy peppers, melons,watermelons, cucs, achoca, crystal apple cucs, cabbages green and red, caulies, leeks, beetroot, swede, nasturtians, peas .....managed to resist any more toms . I think 98 might be ample

                            • At the moment all the toms are in the gh under fleece , I usually end up with a dozen in the gh , pots all round the patio (very sheltered and south facing) and all the rest get chucked in a bed at the lottie and left to get on with it . Last year they did fantastic , better than the gh ones ..this year I'll have my poly as well

                                I've never had much success outside apart from summer 2010 s'pose it depends on having a good summer though ay!
