Picking from moved rhubarb?

Hi,
Last year I moved a few rhubarb plants. They are all starting to show some growth now.
Some books I have looked through say don't have a picking from them this year but a few of the mature allotment guys have said if I don't hammer them then I could have one or two pickings this year.
Any one done this?

I'm sure others will disagree but I would, our rhubarb is always in the wrong place as we change things around, it's one of todays job's coincidently. Just don't go mad but you don't need much for a few portions, think desserts rather than bulk chutney making!

I think the distinction needs to be made between moving a plant and dividing a plant.

If you moved it with a good root ball and plenty of earth then I can see that it would be OK to have a reduced picking the year following the move. On the other hand, if you have divided it then you should let the new plants have a year to convalesce.

Hi, I moved the whole plants. The guy before me had them in the middle of his raspberry section. So this made it really difficult to get to the raspberries without damaging the rhubarb. So dug up the rhubarb but didn't divide it.
