  • Squash photos?

    Hi all,

Anyone got any photos of squash plants you've grown in the past that I can have a look at please? Interested to see how other people grow them and how much space I'd need x

    Hi rosee,
I grew one squash plant last rear in a container uchiki kuri and trained it up some canes it was success in that i ended up wih 3 small football sized squash, would of had more but i didnt do to well on the watering front during the summer and it sufferd for it. Im going to grow upcanes again as space is very limited in my veg garden but may try direct in ground this year. The bottom photo you can make out the squash plant the container is about 2'x1'x1' so not massive.

    Regards
    Dan

These yellow crookneck squash from real seed co were great and quite prolific. The plant was about 1 metre square on the ground. Nice garden danjw!

I don't have photos but grow mine all together, allowing them to ramble over each other - in an area about 6 ft x 6 ft I grow 4 - one in each corner and guide the growth
into the middle, although they do sometimes escape along the paths by the end of the summer

Thanks all, dan is that container one of the black recycling boxes council used to give out? (Or at least ours did) think I have one of those down the side of the conservatory. Looks very similar anyway so that might be perfect if I give it a good scrub up

This is the bottom half of my squash patch from two years ago. I put eight plants in a bed 6m x1,5m plus 2x12 blocks of corn. One golden hubbard escaped over the next two beds, over the potager fence and headed for the drive until MrPP ran it over with the ride-on lawnmower!

I try to keep them trailing around the bed but usually fail. I hope to get three fruit per plant, although last year it was just one as the weather was poor.
