The applecorer hole goes right through the potato so I'm hoping the roots will emerge on t'other side and make their own root system amongst the tatws roots. Earthing up will be interesting as my Rambling Red Stripe tomato is a trailing variety so..............I may plant the whole thing upside down. Tomato growing downwards and tatws growing up

My only concern would be disease, as wouldn't the potato be over and done with by the time the tomato is yielding fruit?

Wont it just end up like a jungle of tomato and potato stalk and leaf competing for light and water. Unless you do the upside down thing.
very interesting though! Keep posting pictures.

Could be a double negative though, what if there is blight early in the season, maybe two for none

Ok Koky Guys, seems we have some mixed interest but interest all the same...............My theory is yes, both the Tattie & Tomato will root in the same soil, I'll just have to be generous with the feed. Earthing up may actually benefit my Tom as they will allow it to grow more roots. The one mistake I have made is to choose Outdoor Girl Tom, I picked this so I could grow it outside forgetting that it is a bush variety & will be a bit of a mess when the tatties start to grow.......I may grow it in the poly as a cordon & see how it gets on...........Don't forget, it's only a bit of fun, I have no idea how it is gonna turn out..........I like the Japenese link........

Good news!.........Although Outdoor Girl are sold as a bush variety, they can in fact be grown as a cordon. I was toying around with changing it for a vine variety but no need now.............
