    The Antique Seed Show

    Its wet and windy out so what better way to spend the day than sorting seeds
    To my amazement, I found a packet of Sweet Peas marked Sow by September 1985
    Should I sow them, throw them or try to sell them as Antiques?
    Does anyone have any older seeds? Please tell me I'm not the only hoarder

    Both!

    Chit some and see what happens.
    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
    If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

          I have some 1981s and 1983s - my 1985 rudbeckia all germinated last year. Not tried it with veg though, this is my Mum's hoard of flower seeds.

          I say go for it!

            Chit em, try flogging as antiques if nothing happens then bin em if some mug...erm collector fails to buy

                          Wonder if they'll come out with dodgy 80s hair-do's! Play them some cheesy 80's music, or sing them some 80's songs - it might make them grow!

                            They should be great for a pea shooter by now!

                            Years ago, when I was cleaning my Grandads house out when he died I came across a packet of Parsnip seed which are notorious for needing to be fresh when sown. These were in the same area as a newspaper cutting with the headlines 'Sinking of the Titanic'

                            I threw them out onto his garden and had a wonderful crop of parsnips from them!

                              It is with great regret that I have to report that the Sweet peas failed to chit............
