          The broad bean pate is a local delicacy in Malta; it is great! I haven't grown beans this year, my OH doesn't like them at all!

            Hi I'm new to all this too but having read your question and answers yesterday my little girl and I promptly went out and picked out first bunch, we've had them at lunch - boiled for 4 mins duly noted thanks Hazel at the Hill - and they were delicious!

              I asked my Dad how I know when broad beans are ready to harvest - he said "pick them before they go lumpy". Thanks Dad, really helpful - NOT.

              We've got a couple of tiny pods and a lot of flowers, so I don't think it'll be long before we're picking - I just hope they don't go lumpy when I'm not looking
              Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.
