Thinking about what to grow this year, I am anticipating a problem with leatherjackets in my two small (1.2m square) raised beds, as was the case last year.
Since I am talking about a small area, I could try the method where you soak the ground and cover with sheeting to coax them out so that I can hand pick them.
Anyone else tried this, and if so how effective is this method? and is it too soon to start now?
Last resort I could sow undercover and transplant seedlings out later once the leatherjackets pupate in May/June, that way leaving the beds without a food source for them.
Any advice on the above or other ideas appreciated - thank you!
