We grow it, it's a big feeder and needs to be kept very well watered so should be suited to Co Down. Once they start to swell keep the bulb bit above soil level and keep pulling off the outermost leaves to get the knobbly effect. The leaves are a lovely addition to stocks and soups or if you have too many just dig them back into the soil.
Goes really well crushed with butter and served as a bed for white fish cooked in smoked bacon.Location ... Nottingham
