  • Onion? Garlic? Leek? Other?!

    Hi,

I have recently got an allotment and there are some plants growing that I would like help identifying. They were growing where a path will go so I had to dig them up. I have planted them in compost and in a couple of weeks will plant them out once beds are ready.

There are load of these... some individually, some in clumps:

They have orange dots on some of the leaves (rust?). They smell like onion. A few have a dry, almost rotten layer skin around the base, one pale brown, some very dark (possibly red).

There is one of these. It has thicker/'puffy' leaves, like a hollow tube. There are two plants coming from a brown skin:

I've never grown any of these before so don't know what they look like at this stage!

    Thanks,
    Moose

First picture is leeks (with rust), the others look like onions. Don't bother planting them out, they will just go to seed.
