Decided I am going to keep the staging. Have eye watering number of pots and trays on the go now!

You guys who are growing through the staging are you growing in the ground or containers?

    Dean.

I grow through the staging too. My GH is on paving so I've built "raised beds" around the sides under the staging. I grow salad in the beds throughout the winter and put toms in open bottomed pots (ring culture) on the beds in summer.

Bren, what's the white stuff on the earth round the bottom of the plants in the first pic?

              Thanks Bren.

Might start collecting eggshells and surround my whole polytunnel with them.

Long afternoon of clearing and demolition yesterday but the old lean to, shanty greenhouse is down!

                Here's a photo mid dismantle.

Well it was a long day yesterday!

I arrived at the house around 1.30pm and it took me about 4 hours to single handedly dismantle, package and load the greenhouse into my little Civic.

I had to put the ridge and gutters on the roof as they were the only parts the full 10ft long.

Duringvthat time I also dug up a rhubard plant and about 50 raspberry plants which were due to be turfed over. Along with the 8ft posts for the raspberry lines and the patio slabs from inside. I took the extensive irrigation system too even though it was damaged.

The staging is 8ft long and took nearly as long to dismantle as the frame. Over engineered!

One big mechano set now at my allotment with not one pane of broken glass and only one sheared but. Thank god for tempered glass and my trusty cordless Makita lithium impact driver!

Now to prep the site and reassemble. I might buy the bar capping from Elite to make it more likely to withstand winter storms.

My mum just offered me two dozen unused 10inch square pots she was given. Tempted to use these for growing toms and gravel the greenhouse?

                  Dean.

Dean you've done well there to dismantle the GH by yourself not sure how you fitted it all in your car along with those plants as well. You must have got some odd looks while you were driving along.

Greenhouse, glass, plants, paving slabs, irrigation system, potted vine (nearly forgot!) six 8ft fencing posts, my work stuff, two tool bag and spades etc.

All in my trusty 52 plate Civic. She is getting cleaned as we speak as a thank you.

                      Dean.

                        Well she is finally up!

I must have shovelled two tonnes of soil to make a level area on my terraced allotment but its great to have it up!

Going to build a bed down the left southern side and use staging/containers on gravel on the right.

Base is set into the ground, its quite clay heavy soil so I don't feel it needs further anchors.

Better photo to follow inside the greenhouse as forgot to take one. At least you can see the beds I am building and the Raspberry's that came free with the green house.

                        Dean.

Its a serious incline near the top of the hill. About a foot drop off the side of each plot, plus a slope on the plot. Think paddy fields. Good for drainage though.

I will take a photo of the view over Exeter next time - almost as enjoyable as the gardening.

Just need to adjust and get the sliding door right, keeps falling off!
