    ...had no patience, Sam!

If you've got oodles of flowers, you'll get oodles of broad beans too!

      Or not, if you're me

But it is much more usual to get heaps of beans, so I think you'll be fine.

You won't see any beans appearing until the flowers have wilted - you'll then begin to find tiny weeny beans growing through. Could take a few weeks yet.

oops! Sorry CC, I knew that there was a grape who'd had trouble with BB flowers not setting, but couldn't remember who!

Like with children, Ellasmum - you have to learn to let go a bit!

Patience is a virtue (one of my mum's old sayings - I won't quote the rest). After flowers come the fruit (or beans in this case). If they're flowering well you should have beans aplenty in due course.

Hey I dont think your as impatient as me, Ive planted some radish that could be ready in 4 weeks (it says so on the packet) and i only planted it for that reason because I am getting so impatient waiting to be able to harvest everything else!I just want to pull something out of the ground that isnt just part of thinning out lol. Ive never had radish in my life.

sam, look for the flowers that have turned black and look to see if you can see a pod emerging from within it.

Some of mine are around 4 inches long now so should be ready to pick in a couple of weeks.

Ellasmum, exactly the same as you - flowers galore, but nothing yet by way of beans.

We both have to be patient!! I know, it is difficult!!

Have been out today, very closely examining the plants, and YES they are there, Tiny, but perfectly formed.

Gammon, new potatoes, broad beans and parsley sauce here we come. Drool, drool!!

Patience indeed. I was getting very frustrated last week, visiting them as often as possible, and now they have appeared! My favourite broad bean recipe is beefburgers, with a broad bean and radish mash in lovely flowery baps!

                          MMMMMM...SOOOO hungry now!

Ellasum - I was in the same boat 2 weeks ago wondering what i had done wrong as had loads of flowers which then died back....but no beans

Today however, I have noticed small beans appearing, so fingers crossed, all will be well for us first time Broad Beaners
