Anyone know what the attached pictures are? I was given them by a neighbour to grow, she does not know what they are called either. They look like a big pear with a large sprout, i just potted the whole thing up and placed in a heated propagator bed and intend to grow it with my melons and cucumbers in a polytunnel. Any tips or sugestions gratefully appreciated.

If it's what I think it is ( senior moment here for the name!)

People grow them indoors here cos it's more of a tropical plant. Will shake up the old grey cells and hopefully come back with the name soon if no-one else beats me to it!!

Saw some on the market t'other day...Can't remember why it had to be a spiky one . Think it was something to do with whether they actually produced fruit or not ..
