  • Strawberries in growbags

I grew our strawberries in growbags last year. My question is, do I need to take out my plants from last year and put them in new growbags, or can I leave them where they are?

    Hi Alastair,

I'm no great font of wisdom on strawberries and have never grown them in growbags. However, I have grown them in containers and found that best results come from new plants annually. Others may find differently and undoubtedly they will let you know if they do

They could stay, but work on the compost having zero nutrients now, so they're relying on you for all feeding requirements

Strawberries are good for about 3 years, but will probably have used all the nutrients in the bags. You will need to feed them.

I agree with the above, my strawberries stay in their containers for the usual rotation of 3 years but I have to feed them. This time of year I use miracle grow for high nitrogen which is good for green growth. Later when they fruit I change to tomato food for high potash which is good for fruit development.
