Honest and well presented videos, includng regular longer range ones at GavsWeatherVids.com - Weather forecasts for the UK. Excellent daily forecasts, some of them longer range, at Weatherweb TV.
You can get an idea of how accurate longer term weather forecasts are likely to be by looking at the nearest of these to you:

These need a little explanation - the upper lines are plots of the temperature predictions from the GFS model at 850mb pressure (which is quite high in the atmosphere) - there are 20 runs in all, each a different colour, scale in deg C on the left. The red line is the seasonal average and the white line is the average of all the runs. The closer together all the coloured lines are, the more accurate the forecasts are likely to be for that time. The surface temperature will be higher (often about 5 degrees), but the general profile will be similar. The lower lines, again 20 runs, indicate forecast rainfall, scale in mm on the right. The plots are produced 4 times a day and run out to 15 days, by which time quite often literally anything is possible. This is not the fault of the forecasters, it is due to the fact that the whole atmosphere and weather system is fiendishly difficult to forecast mathematically.Last edited by Penellype; 03-04-2014, 05:52 PM.A life is like a garden.
