Too late to sow tomatoes???

I've got some tomato seeds unopened that I haven't gotten around to sowing - am I too late?? I have windowsill space and some cell trays, we're in Sussex - this is the first time I've done tomatoes so not sure what is best. Or shall just go for some plants from the nursery this year? I'll be planting outside in grow bags down the allotment when ready...

And people are still buying tomato seeds from me (also in France), so you're way ahead of them! Lol . Go for it

As the others have said, no, it's not too late. They'll soon catch up, especially if you feed them.

The 'worst' that could happen is that you'll be picking the tomatoes a little later into the season.

The downside to growing tomatoes is that you tend to end up with a glut all coming at once, so planting seed at differing times is not a bad idea at all.

You could buy just a couple of plants, when we get to "frost free" time (or sooner if you can grow them on in the meantime), and supplement the ones you sow with those, which will give you an earlier crop
