    Your cloche will give them warmer days, and keep the wind off them (which is as important - even a light breeze will dessicate the leaves of the young plants, and if they are not growing vigorously, as it is early in the year, the breeze adds additional stress. So cloche is good

    On a cold night chuck a blanket, or old duvet or similar, over the cloche

      Ah that made me laugh - just off out to tuck up the courgettes, dear Thanks Kristen. I may be bold and put the artichokes out sooner rather than later, under milk bottle cloches, but I'll hang fire on the courgettes and pumpkins for a couple of weeks yet.
      Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?
