Shetland Potatoes

I running two trials in my garden this year, potatoes and winter squash.
I have approx 30 potato varieties including old heritage types and modern blight resistant varities on trial to see which best suits my conditions. My question is are shetland blue and shetland black the same variety? I have been given a small amount of tubers by different indivuals , the look the same to me but are labelled differently. I tried The British Potato Variety Database but neither type are mentioned on the database. Can anyone throw some light on the subject.
If anyone is interested on either project I can list the varieties and results of both trials.

Hi Meteor, looking at my Potato book Mr Romans has Shetland Black in the heritage varieties section (also a reference to 'Orkney Black') but no Shetland Blue. Salad Blue but no reference there to Shetland. Skerry Blue but that is traced back to Ireland. There are various other blues but no Shetland Blue. My guess would be Shetland Black but labelled as blue because actually that's what colour it is.

Thanks Chippy, you have confirmed my suspicions. My Dad used to sow the Skerry Blue type years ago, haven't seen them in yonks but would love to get my hands on a few tubers.

Edzel Blue is popular in Eastern Scotland, only blue tattie I have come across.
