Nicos, that's AMAZING. Really they seem to have the same climbing ability as cats. I love the closeups of the fox basking in the sun at the top of that great big hedge!

It could also be a squirrel - last year Tufty not only buried an egg in a pot AND scraped the gravel back so it looked undisturbed, but the year before dug up a tuber and buried it the right way up in my bulb pot (both it and the daffs were fine).

A while back my friend's mother-in-law found 3 40w lightbulbs buried neatly in one of her pots (what made us laugh was that being frugal, she wiped them off and used them)

I wonder if you have considered goings on where the scarecrow is concerned?

Thanks Goldcrest - and yes we do have gadzillions of squirrels around so that would make sense. Bill - could it actually be a scarecrow's egg, do you think? Gad knows how they reproduce, but that seems as good a way as any... :-0

The only thing I know about scarecrow reproduction is that it involves the use of "An Ansome ed"

Well said, Bill. We may have to draw a veil over the other aspects.

I don't think so, BB. But I haven't been down there for a couple of days. Will get down at the weekend and report back!

Ha!! I was mowing the lawn a month or so ago and was totally surprised to find a huge white egg just hidden in the long grass!!! It must have been a goose egg (they come into the garden and poo everywhere when I forget to shut the gates). We did the foo attest to see how fresh it was and my dad ate it!! Made a huge scrambled egg!!!

Ooh, yum. Thought briefly about eating the egg I found, too. Question: are all eggs edible?

All eggs are edible but it may not be fresh. It is covered in dirt and could have been there sometime.

How could you even consider eating a buried egg, you don't know where it's been, oh well you do I suppose.
