  • Flea Beatle damage ???

These radishes almost germinated with this damage. They're just starting to get their first true leaves and, after pulling one up, are developing nice roots.

Was told it could be flea beatle ? any suggestions and cures or will they grow out of it ?

My radishes get flea beetle too but as it is never too bad and I don't eat the leaves that I never worry about it.

Yes, that's flea beetle damage. I'm sad to say that my radish have got it even worse than that this year.

Flea beetle and radishes, beetroot and leaf miner just something we live with. I suffer both but still manage to crop from both.

I think the exceptionally mild winter has multiplied the the issue this year.

My rocket is suffering! Have still washed and eaten some of the leaves, but it looks unsightly and seems to toughen them up a bit too. May give up on the whole row....give it a bit longer to see if they 'grow out of it'?
Can't see the little blighters either!

Just looked it up......apparently you can help prevent by sowing under cover- fleece or mesh.
If you have them already, draw a honey coated sheet of paper along the soil. The beetles will be disturbed and drop onto it. Compost the paper!
Glad I said I washed the leaves in previous post - apparently the larvae are covered in the mum's poo for protection!
Rapid growth and plenty of water will apparently alleviate the problem.
