Had a really brilliant yield from just 5 plants last year. This year I have 15! I can't see why they wouldn't grow in sacks. They only need about 12" between plants. The really important thing to remember is that they bulk up a huge amount (I think I read 50% somewhere) for at least two weeks after the tops die off so do not rush to harvest them.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!
Last year I planted 10 - 5 in each 24 inch tub and treated them like potatoes, earthing up. I must have got 250+ yield. About 8 were nibbled by slugs.
The leaves get really bushy and needed loosely tying if you haven't much room. Or you can chop a few off and eat them - they taste really nice
