  • What on earth is going on

With my cauliflower,i have only recently harvested them from last year, after being in the ground all winter, noticed this morning, lots of new plants coming out of the soil,on digging up,it appears to be sprouting from the thick roots, just like you expect from flowers that come back every year, the variety was Aalsmeer,
All the leaves have been striped of,the stalk never tried to grow any greens,
The pics show 1 plant in the ground,1 of the underneith, and 1 i broken a bit of thick root off,to show how it is,

That's my sort of plant Lottie - totally nutty
Try potting up some of those little babies - you have lots of little seedling caulis just raring to grow.
I have some cabbages that do much the same thing - they're in Year 3 now and I keep growing on the side shoots into new cabbage. Saves all the effort of sowing seed

Try putting a few of the babies in some water - with luck they'll grow roots. That's what mine do anyway
