The back right hand corner of my garden is roughly 2.5m x 3m at a rough guess. Although not everything will "produce" this year (a few items aren't old enough), this are is CRAMMED full of happy plants (although the daylillies were struggling for a while, they seem to be bouncing back now)

In no particular order ...

2 x dahlia yams (cactus dahlias)
1 x queensland arrowroot (canna lily)

1 x medlar tree
1 x trifoliate orange tree (very young)
2 x giant bulgarian leeks
10 x electric daisies
1 x sage

1 x globe artichoke
4 x jerusalem artichoke
2 x daylillies
4 x chinese artichoke
6 x asparagus pea
2 x hyacinth bean
1 x rosemary bush
1 x lavendar
1 x brown turkey fig
1 x red rose "dame de couer"
1 x philadelphus (mock orange)
1 x yarrow
1 x feverfew
9 x skyscraper lillies
1 x blue ornamental grass
1 x black ornamental grass
1 x gas lamp

... and remember, that's just one corner of a 4m x 8m garden.

Have you thought about some hanging baskets?...containing tumbling toms or strawberries...from the metal arch?

Yeah, tried that last year Nicos. It just hasn't got the strength or the height. Last year it was turned against the wall, so height wasn't an issue (not going to bop your noggin on it walking through), but the weight of just one small basket (which DID have small tumbling tom starter plants in) deformed it WAY too much, so I ended up gifting that basket away.

It's just a cheapo one which is strong enough to support the hyacinth beans climbing up the left hand side, some solar fairy lights, and the occasional blackbird, but not much else

The other issue is that due to the location, the growing period in that area is a bit short for a lot of crops - I was tempted to run passionfruit up it, and that's also where my kiwi was originally, but it's never going to happen. I gifted the kiwi fruit to GardenGayle on here, and abandoned the passionfruit. Fingers crossed on the hyacinth beans, although I do have two more plants in chaos corner where the growing season is a couple of months longer anyway. It's quite amazing what a difference relocating a plant a couple of metres away makes in a garden like this. "Zoning" in the planning/preparation stages is quite important for the success of the plants
