I don't want holey potatoes this year.

This year we have had lots of rain here and the soil is still very wet. I've been pulling my new potatoes for 2 weeks now. They are amazing but today I found one of the smaller ones absolutely riddled with slug holes. Judging by the size of the holes it must have been a pretty big slug-now disappeared.

How on earth do I protect my potatoes from the blighters when they are not visible?

Any ideas?

It's the keel slugs that are responsible. I think nematodes are the way to go.

I had that problem last year. I suspect that I left them in the ground a little too long. Mama H sorted them all out into buckets, graded according to hole-y-ness!

This was one reason I started growing them in bags, also my soil is heavy. Now I get perfectly formed hole free tatties every time. And I only grow first earlies now.

Mine are full of holes too taste great but a right fiddle to clean up all the holes. Very frustrating

I have holey Rockets but whole Arran Pilots. Actually, they may have holes but they've been filled in with potato so I can't see them
