    When your veg has bolted?

I planted Beetroot - Detroit 2 at the beginning of March. The leaves have developed but when I pulled one up to see the was nothing there.

I know I am still new to all this even tho I have been trying to grow now for 3years, but I am still learning.
I just feel like I am thick when I am keep asking about things to you guys.

Beetroot have a while to go yet before they are ready. You will see the roots starting to swell, if you scrape the soil away. Mine are still just at the leaf stage like yours. Bolting is when the main stem grows tall to produce a flower spike.

They won't have bolted, I only had my first beetroot from a march sowing last week. Now is the time the bulb starts to fatten. I've never known beetroot to bolt
When a veg bolts, it sends up a flower shoot.

bolted means the top ( ie the stem/leaves) suddenly grow tall and you start to get flower buds appearing.

Those look healthy to me although a bit on the crowded side, they need space for the root to swell. Others may disagree?

Most definitely OK, they are looking very healthy. Agree that they could be spaced apart.

No wonder it bolted, growing straight out like that

Thin out a bit taking the smaller plants away, so that they have about 2" diameter of space each. You can add the leaves of the beet you take out to a salad (or if a little large wilt them in a bowl of hot water, and add to a stir fry). Waste not want not.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
