  • What's up with my chillis?

Been growing chillis for a few years and it's my second year growing hot ones - Scotch Bonnets, Caribbean Antillais, Choc Habaneros and Spanish Nagas. Most are doing okay but a few are looking sickly.

New leaves are curling and wilting. They actually look a little worse than the photos show.

They are in an unheated greenhouse with net screening to keep off the worst of the sun as it was hitting 50 in there. Fed every week with chilli focus.

Any ideas on what's going on and more importantly what can be done?

I think you may have aphid of some description. Look at the leaves on the underside.

I've not seen anything recently. I sprayed them a few weeks back when I noticed some bugs on them but nothing recently. I'll have a proper check when I get back home tonight

      Thanks!

My initial thought is that something has stressed/damaged them two or three weeks ago (could be the aphids), and your seeing the consequences grow out. The newest growth looks OK in the those pics?

Hmm. Maybe it was the aphids at that time or maybe the bug spray caused scorching? They don't look like a lost cause so maybe they'll come through the other side...

The lucky thing is that I'm still at the phase where I have too many plants. I gave loads away at work as almost all my seeds germinated and I still have around a dozen plants. so if I lose these its not the end of the world.

Are you letting them dry out between watering? They don't like being wet all the time and don't need feeding too much either

To be honest they are not being watered much (even the ones that look healthy with plenty of buds) I always check well below the surface to check how dry the compost is and and let them dry out in between watering.
