  • Sowing for winter harvest?

Hi I was wondering when I am supposed to sow all of my brassicas in order to harvest them Oct-Dec. I have already sown a few of each plants but they are very small as I neglected them by leaving them in a seed tray for too long! Also I have a polytunnel I can grow in if that helps. Many thanks!

You should be fine sowing winter brassica now. I would be wary of putting them in a polytunnel though as many brassica do not like it too hot and too much heat can cause them to bolt.

I always put a load of brassicas in my polytunnel over winter after the toms etc have come out. That way I get calabrese really early as well as red cabbages, spring caulis and early spring cabbages. Works brilliantly but pak choi always bolts. I tend to just shove any spares in the beds from my outdoor sowing and give them pretty much no attention.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
