Too late to plant onion sets ?

I purchased some cheap centurian white onion sets from Home and Bargain as they were going for 10p. I couldn't resist as they are healthy. I have planted them out and if they don't do anything, it was worth the gamble. Is it too late to even get smaller onions late summer ?

They should make some nice "spring onions" in 2-3 months. Worth buying in my opinion.

I did exactly the same a couple of weeks back Marb, I planted them in the kite & they are now approx 9" tall.
