  • Too late to plant squash?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any input on whether it's too late to plant another squash now (Butterrcup variety). Alternatively - how long can I keep one in a pot?

The dilemma is that I had saved one for a a friend who I'll be seeing in two weeks but it doesn't seem to want to wait - i's really starting to burst out of its pot now. Judging by the ones I have in the ground it's going to go mad and become unwieldy if I repot it into a bigger one. So the options are to keep it as it is (with cramped roots - will this damage it?) for a couple more weeks or stick it in my garden, try planting another seed and hope it catches up...

    Opinions please?

Risky but I'd try to pot it on then put it out ASAP, I planted the seeds for mine direct about 3 weeks ago and they are romping away already .if you leave them in small pots they will stall and take longer to recover, other opinions will be along shortly

I've planted out a couple this week and they have already got established. It's a bit later than I normally put them out but the warm weather is obviously helping.

Thanks, I think I'll just plant it out in my garden and share the squash when they come!

Is it too late to grow another one from seed?

Would think you are pushing it , but then it'll only cost you a seed

I would say definitely worth a try - things germinate and grow so fast at this time of year it may well catch up.
