Can you squeeze them in individually in odd little places, next to things you'll be harvesting before the spud plants grow big?

Here is an odd place, one spud in the bottom of an old wellington boot.Last edited by Bill HH; 07-07-2014, 10:30 PM.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html

If your Tomatoes are in beds undercover, plant the spuds in between the Toms. By the time they are ready to be pulled, the Toms will be long gone.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Plant em in your compost bins and leave the top off. I always find tatties in mine when I turn them in Autumn

Thanks for your suggestions - all in favour of planting them and most of you suggesting bags/pots etc.
Bet you didn't sleep last night wondering what I would do with them
It was a bit of a trick question, sorry, as I'd already dug up the Jap onions and shallots in one bed (plenty more to come!!)
It was really interesting to hear what you would have done in the circumstances and you confirmed that I was right to plant and not bin them.
Thank you for playing along with my little game
Here are the onions and shallots, most of which were grown from some saved last year.
PS, Spuds planted this morning - must hope that there's no blight or frost before Chr***mas

I missed this due to being busy yesterday
My suggestion would have been to put them in bags in the shed or garage or somewhere where nothing else will grow because its dark, then move the bags into some space when you have it, once the foliage has appeared. That's what I do when I want potatoes in bags and I haven't got room.Last edited by Penellype; 08-07-2014, 06:41 PM.A life is like a garden.
