  • Green Manures - a question

I am new to green manures and thought I would try it out on one of my beds this year. I would like to know if it has to fit into the crop rotation.
I thought I would plant a legume type one in the bed where my onions are now, then maybe follow it in the spring with brassicas

Where is best to buy it.

Anita, here's a guide to green manures which gives advice on rotation (eg mustard is from the brassica family, so avoid that if you're planning to plant brassicas next etc.) The legume green manures are mainly from the clover family - some of these I find are quite slow to germinate, but I've found crimson clover grows well. https://www.cotswoldseeds.com/files/...ures_final.pdf

I buy my green manures from Garden Organic, though most garden centres seem to sell a range of seeds. I've tried most green manures, and my personal favourite is phacelia which seems to suit my clay soil. Green Manure Seeds
