  • Tomato truss question

I have several tomato plants all of which have developed several fruit trusses. Many of these trusses have > 10 flowers/mini tomatoes on but I've noticed the most mature have started to grow leaves at the end. Some have even got stalks. The truss generally hangs downward and then these stalks grow vertically just like the rest of the plant. I remeber this happening last year as well.

So far I've been pinching these off at the last flower but is this normal and the right thing to do? Why does this happen and does it suggest my plants are missing or have too much of something?

This does happen - not on all varieties, and not every time, but it's not uncommon.

I don't know why it happens, but I don't believe that it is related to growing conditions or lack of nutrients, it's just a quirk.

When mine have done it I've left them. Don't know if that was right, but I didn't manage to kill them!
