Im after the dark green cabbages that people get for christmas, Im not sure what they are called though. Any ideas?

Jeanied, try again but add plenty of garden lime to the soil. Probably more than you think you should! (You may also need to net them to stop butterflies and pigeons.) If you want to get technical get your soil tested but time and time again with brassicas "the answer lies in the lime!"
