I'm growing most things at my allotment, but grow tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions and strawberries on my patio at home.

I grow some things at home and some down the lottie. This year i am leaving my home veg patch to rest.
I grow all my plants at home in the greenhouses and transplant when conditions are right. once the main greenhouse is sort of cleared of veg, then i grow toms.

I grow veg at home as I am too disorganised to try to juggle work, family life and an allotment all at once. I created a small area at the bottom of the garden next to shed and walk in hen run. It will be fenced off from main ornamental bit with trellis later this year, (I like small intimate spaces so I am forever partitioning parts of the garden off to make little cosy corners, nightmare when it comes to painting all the trellis though!!)

I grow in the back yard (to call it a garden would be a bit of a stretch, there's no grass!) in pots. I don't even know if there are allotments in Ireland (probably, but I've never seen one!) There's about 15ft of sunny wall space where they'll all have to get lined up for their share of the sun, but I've got a few ideas for the shadier patches and some hanging baskets of course.
Every day I walk past a patch of grass and often get the urge to stick a squash plant in there... the vehicle pollution would be a downside but I really question why more people don't dig up their front lawns to grow veggies, especially whenn they complain healthy food is so expensive!Gayle

I think I cover all the angles, or am about to.
I have a tiny patch of grass attached to my house, where I now have permission to plant an apple tree and a fruit bush. I have also started to build a wee greenhouse (very wee - 3 feet by 4) where I intend to grow on/overwinter salad plants, tomatoes etc. Beside the bin area is a verge where I aim to have all sorts of pots containing salad plants, the odd container-grown carrot, parsnip etc.
Elsewhere I do guerrilla gardening in an abandoned garden, growing potatoes and JA's, and in Aberdeen I have a private allotment (rent free) where I am growing lots of potatoes, JA's (I believe in a belts and braces approach), carrots, salsify, scorzonera, kale, shallots, ocas, celery, broccoli, chard etc. Some of which I will grow in buried yoghurt pots, so that I can lift them when needed, take half a dozen home, and have fresh each day until the next time I go into town.
On top of that, I also have a raised bed in a friend's garden nearby, where I am growing beans, garlic and leeks, plus some salad plants.
In my spare time, I am a one-man band who juggles during the chorus....There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
