Hmm, we don't really have chips here..... I prefer mine with the skins on, steamed/boiled and eaten as is or with a knob of butter.

I grew rocket this year as first earlies good yield but not much flavour, my wife liked them though but she always says that to stop me going grumpy. The second earlies were Orla, now I really did enjoy them, lovely looking, good yield Over 7lbs in a container from 3 seeds and lovely flavour, my main crop are Sarpo Mira, these have produced wonderful foliage and look to damned healthy for their own good, I have yet to taste them though, reports are they are a bit floury. I now have 3 containers of Charlotte started for Christmas wedged in with the tomatoes in the GH.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html

Yes, they are waxy, but they do store well too!

Growing four varieties Charlotte for salad, Apache for roasting 35mins no need to par boil, Marabel for jackets nice buttery flavour, no need to peel any of these, and maris piper for chips and mash,all grown in potato bags so slugs not really a problem.

Hi folks, thanks for more answers and more inspiration!
You have given me food for thought.
I may try potato bags myself next year, to compare and contrast, as so many Grapes succeed with them. Am also planning to sow mustard as a green manure in the bed that's getting the tatties next year. Apparently that will do them good.

I'm going to try Maris Piper potatoes in a giant airpot (500 litre) .... these are actually compost bins as it also has a tube that runs through the bottom that feeds air to the roots from the bottom aswell....
the only potatoes that we buy are Maris Piper (we enjoy them as chips, mash and roast spuds)
