  • Carrot tips going brown ?!?!

Hey everyone I haven't been on for a while been pretty busy I out some carrots in quite early in the season the variety currently escapes me but the tips of the leaves if that's what they are called seen to be turning brown ?? They have had plenty of water so I'm pretty sure it's not a lack of water or does it just mean that thy are ready to be pulled ??

We out our raised beds in this year and this is how it's looking now :-).

    Before

    During

    Now :-)

Brush the soil away from the shoulders of the carrot - you "should" be able to guess how large they are by the width of them (if they're not stubby ones). Pull a couple and have a look. I know the beds are raised, but have they been waterlogged?

If it's a redy brown then I'm afraid it may indicate carrot fly damage but you won't know for sure until you pull them. Fingers crossed it isn't.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

By brown do you mean reddish brown? If that is the case it could be carrot fly.

Thanks for the responses everyone and no when I was last up it doesn't seem to be a redish brown it's more of a yellowy brown I doubt very much it's been waterlogged I have very good free draining soil I will try and get up and check them tonight I might pull a few.
