I would guess that you have been visited by a pigeon Carriann.bung some fleece over it to protect from further attacks

It's growing in my greenhouse. So don't think a pigeon can get in there unless I leave the door open. Could slugs?

It's not a pest that's caused it. More likely to be the weather. They don't need to be grown in a greenhouse, they prefer cooler conditions.

My cabbage is fine BM. It's a pic of the top of my cauliflower.

It looks like a cabbage to me too
Caulis show the flowers, not form a tight leafy head

You sure it's a cauliflower? Looks like a cabbage to me. Both caul is and cabbages prefer to be outside, the greenhouse gets too warm for them

I'm confused. I did plant one cauli and one cabbage.

Shall I leave it and see?

The packet even says cauliflower - all year round. If it is cabbage then the packet it wrong from who I bought it from.

I can see the remnants of the thick leaf spine that cauliflowers have so I'd be happy to say it is a cauliflower!

Don't know what has caused the effect if it is protected from wildlife though... I'd have said it had been eaten by something bigger than a slug!
The proof of the growing is in the eating.
