Sungold supreme

I grow many tomato varieties, mainly cherry, both outdoors and in a greenhouse.
I was picking them yesterday, sampling as I went along, as you do!
Most were OK but as soon as I popped a Sungold in my mouth lit up with flavour.
I think they are the best.
They grow indoors and outdoors.
Ripen very early
Produce long trusses
Seem to be disease free.
This year I grew Rosada because I couldn't get Tropical Ruby. It has done very well and tastes very good. But the cost of the seed. I didn't check and when I got to the checkout my wallet had a fit, for 6 seeds.

Any other Sungold fans ?
Any other really sweet cherry ?

Me! I adore Sungold . I also grew Orange Paruche F1 this year, and there's not much to choose between them in my view. Definitely worth another go next year

I haven't tried Sungold yet but my next door neighbour is growing them so I'm looking forward to comparing them with Cherry Fox, which I'm growing and are super sweet. I gave some to a friend yesterday and she was blown away... Sungold will have t go some to beat them. The reviews I have read say that they are highly resistant to blight as well, which is a bonus.

Sungold are first to ripen, prolific and delicious. They get my vote!

Last year bought a pack of tomato plants at BQ, one was Sungold. What a lovely tasting tomato it was. Did I plant it this year, no.
Will be making a return for definite next season.

Thanks for heads up, will grow sungold supreme next year.

Grew sweet aparitif this year and they knocked everything else into a tin hat for sweetness and flavour. They look good on neat vines, too.

I also grow Ilde....hundreds and hundreds of very sweet, pear shaped yellow cherry toms, delish

I've grown red alert, super marmalade and San marzano this year. Only red alert have survived a blight attack. The others are green and either in my chutney or on a window ledge so not tasted a ripe one yet.

The red alert are ok but will definitely give sungold a go next year.

I'm growing Ildi too. LOADS of flowers but only one plant has a lot of fruit on it so far. I cut some trusses off yesterday in the hope of speeding up the remaining ones. They're outside and I don't much fancy their chances of coming good this year. Are yours outside too? They're a keeper nevertheless, if only because the trusses keep so long after cutting... or so I've read.

Another vote for Sungold. This year I have also grown Sweet Aperitif and they are a really nice tomato.

As to Red Alert, these came on the market along with Tumbling Tom as a replacement for Tumbler. Tumbler is one of my all time favourites as for the other two my vote would be poop.

Sungold are delicious, wish they were bigger though. I also found the later ones taste better than the early ones don't know why. Despite pots saying tumblers taste nice mine were flavourless but very prolific, maybe its the compost I used.
I still cant find what tomatoes they sell in the supermarket, bit bigger than cherry size, very firm, deep red and packed with flavour. if I ever find out I will definitely grow them.

If anyone wants to try a small cherry tom for growing in 2 litre pots, baskets or window boxes, try Bolconi red and Balconi yellow.....they produce loads of cherry toms all summer long and don't get any bigger than 12" tall.

I saw a program on TV this weekend, one of the Sunday cooking shows.
They had an article on Tomatoes. The one I remember was "Piccolo"
Said it was sweet.

Just taken a large bowl of mixed cherries into work as I have that many.

I have three outdoor grow bags with Sungold. But I must have got one mixed up because a "Garden Pearl" has appeared. 8 tall Sungolds and a Dinky Garden Pearl.

I usually grow Garden Pearl on my hanging baskets.
They take all sorts of abuse and still produce masses of fruit.

One last question on Sungold.
I know they are sweet but I think they have a nice, slightly "spicy" back taste.

Anyone else noticed this ?
