For plants: Rarely buy them. Bought a white habanero plant off eBay once which was okay.
A lot of big name retailers have massively expanded their chilli plant ranges in recent years; T&M, Suttons, etc. Even your local independent garden centre should carry a few.
plant sellers are
Simpson seeds, they do some very good plugs early in thew year and are very reasonably priced, Matt is an excellent grower
or
Seaspring seeds, Michael and Joy are at the top of the seed and chilli plant suppliers IMHO these guys bred the Dorset Naga and have very nice selection
google both names and you will not go wrong
We bought their plug plants this year and seeds the year before....absolutely fantastic quality plugs which have ALL gone on to give a good crop... As for the seeds - I may have just been lucky - but 100% germination rate.
I used real seeds for mine and now, after a great crop, are peppers as good as toms at crossing?, my toms have thrown up some lovely crosses this year and as I had 8 different types of peppers/chillies growing in the back greenhouse so we could have jalepeno crossing with black or wax Hungarians , or the long red and the yellow..... this could be fun.. roll on spring, and a good summer again.......
