Can you identify the tomato?

Evening all, first post.

I've been growing tomatos outside for a couple of years, Gardeners Delight, Moneymaker and Shirley and I've had okay crops but nothing impressive, however I've been to the grandparents today and they've grown an impressive vine type tomato in only a couple of months, however they're not sure what type they are, they were given the seeds by a friend a while back... they've got quite shiny leaves and small, but round vine tomatos, any ideas what they could be?

Hello Adam & welcome to the vine. I have no idea what variety the toms are as there are so many but they have a nice crop.

Welcome to the Grapevine, Adam. Sorry but I can't identify your tomato either.
If you like them you could save some seeds for next year - although this won't work if they are F1 seeds!

Looks very similar to one of the varieties I have growing, though the one closest to the house does not have a label in it.

I'll have a shuffty through the others tomorrow if no one has identified it before then! It looks potato leaved to me so that narrows it down a bit and the tops of the fruit have what I like to think of as a dark hair cut pattern.

Thanks for the responses, the leaves are quite unusual, never seen any other tomato plants with shiny leaves, usually they appear quite dull...

Hopefully next years harvest will be better than this years... Lots of lessons learnt, such as growing tomatos in smallish pots is never going to work.

I've grown runner beans too, they turned out okay, just a shame my 12 month old Poodle decided she wanted to chew the plant apart...

I think it might be 'Harbinger' or 'Harzfeuer'. I am quite likely to be incorrect though.

The trouble with tomatoes is that at first so many just look like round green balls and then they turn into round red balls.
